The golden era of New York City commuter yachts is long past, but their style and grace is a constant inspiration for S&S designers. This modern version of S&S Design 145, Phoenix, is a revival of one of the most beautiful commuter yachts originally built in the 1930's. This 68' Commuter has a large owner stateroom aft, captain/guest stateroom forward, large wrap-around galley, day head with shower, and spacious full beam main salon with seating for ten or more. On deck, Phoenix II has an outdoor seating area, tanning bed, as well as an airy pilothouse with L-shaped settee and bar.
This Sparkman & Stephens' 68' Commuter Yacht is a modern classic with nostalgic styling reminiscent of a bygone era.
She has been designed for fashionable, high-speed, near coastal cruising and occasional offshore passage making. Narrow beam and an efficient hull form make her quick to plane; she is easily driven by twin screws conventionally coupled to high output marine diesel engines. Her performance is further bolstered by lightweight composite hull, deck, and superstructure construction.
Accommodations for six include a luxurious master stateroom aft with en suite head and separate shower, a spacious forward VIP cabin, a second head and shower, and a twin guest/captain stateroom. The amidships main salon features a starboard side dining area and galley to port. The open main salon also boasts a vaulted overhead with traditional butterfly hatch and generous windows on three sides. Topsides, her arrangement provides for a social aft cockpit and an expansive, airy pilothouse from which to commute in elegant style.
