The Team
S&S Newport Rhode Island Office
Paul Buttrose
Paul splits his time between Newport, Rhode Island and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, depending on the season.

During his 40-year career Paul has had a long association with Sparkman & Stephens racing on many famous S&S yachts, working alongside Rod Stephens as an independent consultant to Nautor Swan, consulting with Olin Stephens while managing the refurbishment of Dorade upon her return to US waters to name but a few examples. He is a co-founder of Sail Newport, Rhode Island's Public Sailing Center and past President of the International Twelve Meter Class.

Paul maintains a USCG captain's license and has sailed, raced and inspected yachts in the Americas, Finland and Scandinavia, northern and southern Europe, the British Isles, the Caribbean and Oceania.

His varied experience has provided Paul with a colorful palette from which to draw knowledge, comparisons and conclusions about yachts, their design, construction and intended purpose.

Jeff Grey
Jeff has spent the majority of his 30 year career in the custom yacht building and service sector of the industry. Growing up sailing on Martha's Vineyard and then apprenticing with the well known Gannon and Benjamin yard of Vineyard Haven, Jeff learned a deep appreciation for well designed and built classic yachts. Jeff went on to establish his own Boatyard and Boatbuilding business in Duxbury, Mass, and comes to S&S with a vast knowledge of the construction and repair of both power and sailing yachts. He has extensive experience with all yacht systems as well as spars, rigging, and hardware both traditional and modern. Jeff uses this background to advise and educate his clients allowing them to make sound choices as they buy or sell a yacht.

In addition to his brokerage role, Jeff will be focusing on the "after sales" relationship with our S&S clients. S&S is committed to being a valuable resource for their clients, past and present and Jeff will be working with clients as they contemplate refit or repair projects.

Jeff will also begin compiling an S&S yacht register. Performing research and collecting data on the status and history of the S&S design portfolio. This will be an invaluable resource for anyone who owns or is contemplating an S&S yacht.
